Hannah’s Rehabilitation Story

Posted   |  No Comments

Hannah began coming to see us for rehab a few months after her brother, another rehab patient here, passed away. She began to slow down and have many of the common troubles older dogs get, and the passing of Taz seemed to make them worse. She began both laser and hydro therapy and now comes in 3 times a week. Hannah has made great strides (pun intended!) in her mobility and is much more active. She has gained muscle in her hind end so she isn’t collapsing when she eats or stands for longer periods of time anymore. She’s even…

Hydrotherapy- What is it really?

Posted   |  No Comments

As many of you know, the phrase “hydrotherapy” comes up often in our blog posts. As does “cold laser therapy”, and a slew of supplement names. While many of our rehab patients begin their journeys with us due to a surgery or chronic problem, some of them find themselves needing laser or hydrotherapy due to every day accidents. Melody started out in just that way. Beginning in the winter of 2013, Melody came up lame after tripping on some stairs. We recommended laser therapy. Melody’s parents were eager to get her started, as they had experience with our cold laser therapy before with Melody’s brother, Charlie. After a short course of rest and laser, Melody was back to her playful self. About a year later, the…

My Old Dog

Posted   |  No Comments

My Old Dog Lately, I have been reminded over and over again that my dog is getting older. Lilly will turn 10 years old on May 2nd. I am not ready. She is my oldest child and my first child. Lilly is my first puppy as an adult and was the most incredible vet school graduation gift from my parents and my aunt and uncle. She was 8 weeks old when I went to pick her out. She was quietly playing with a stick minding her own business while the other eligible puppy jumped and greeted me at the gate….
